How to disable Custom backgrounds for Albums in iTunes 11 on Mac or Windows?

Here’s a quick tutorial on how you could disable the custom backgrounds for albums in iTunes 11 on Mac or Windows.

iTunes 11 came out after a month of delay recently, and it has been stirring a lot of interest among the users to explore its features. While we explore the new features on iTunes 11, I’m going to be writing some basic tutorials on using some of the basic features of iTunes 11.

With the major redesign, the new iTunes 11 has got custom background colors for albums’ song list when expanded. This color is based on the most dominating color in the album art. While this looks cool for some, there are some of my friends who are not big fans of this feature. So let’s see how we could disable it.

How to turn off Custom Background Color for Albums’ song list on iTunes 11?

  1. Open iTunes 11
  2. Now, open Preferences
  3. And in the very first tab, which will be selected by default, you’ll see the option for Use custom colors for open albums, movies, etc.
  4. Uncheck the tick box, and that’s it. You’re done.
