Fix ‘Sort by Date’ for Recently Added Smart Playlist bug on iPhone after syncing with iTunes 11.

A bug in the iTunes 11 will not sort the Recently Added smart playlist by date on the iPhone. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to solve this bug.

iTunes 11 is now out in the wild, and everyone has been getting their hands-on with it. The first this I did after installing the iTunes 11 was to sync my iPhone 5 with my iTunes 11 library.

It was early today that I realized that the tracks on my Recently Added smart playlists were not sorted by the date added, while playing the tracks in my car. Well, it was then I came to know that this is a bug, and somehow, I figured out how to fix that. Let me tell you how I fixed the bug. Might help yo, if you’re on the same bot.

How to fix the date sort issue with iTunes 11 Recently Added smart playlist?

  1. Sync you iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch with iTunes 11 as you’d do always.
  2. Now, take out the device you synced, and do a hard reset.
  3. Press the Home and Power (Sleep/Wake) button continuously for 30 seconds.
  4. Now, turn on the device, and you’ll be done.

One another way to fix this issue was to add a new song to the Recently Added playlist, and it also seem to solve this issue.
