Fix iPhone / iPad Restarts automatically while rearranging app icons. [Solved]

Here’s how to fix or solve the iPad or iPhone unexpectedly restarting itself after moving apps between screen on your iOS device. This issue is caused due to a bug that crashes the Springboard when you try to move an app between more than one page.

iOS 6 has been around for a while, and some users have been facing some difficulty moving applications between pages on the iOS devices’ homepage. This issue is widely spread and is easily reproducible by some of the users on iPhone 4S, iPad 3 and iPhone 4.

While some users might find it irritating to solve this issue, here’s a temporary solution that solves the springboard crash temporarily. I think Apple has already heard of this issue and a P1 Radar must have been there with them.

How to solve iOS device crashing when moving icons between pages?

  1. Re-Arrange an icon from one page to another.
  2. Now make sure that you’ve moved the icon to the page right next to the one in which the icon was existing.
  3. Once you’ve placed the icon in the desired position, just press the home button to stop the wiggle effect.
  4. Now, if your intention was to move the icon to two pages away from the original position, do the same steps one by one.

The problem of crashing occurs only when trying to move the icons to more pages from its original page. But then, the problem resolves itself overtime and also, I would suggest you to do a Hard Reset of your iOS device when such problems occur.

Alternatively, you can also try doing a DFU Restore (Complete Wipe-Out Restore) using iTunes on Mac or Windows.
