Apple and HTC have finally settled down. Both the companies ended their patent dispute after battling in the courtroom for so many years now. Apple and HTC have signed a licensing deal for the next 10 years to end this patent case.
Apple first sued HTC for infringing a lot of iPhone related patents about a year back, and HTC in turn sued Apple for infringing its patents on both iPhone and Mac. While none thought this would come to an end, Apple and HTC have come under a licensing agreement to settle the ongoing patent disputes for the next 10 years. This does look like its Tim Cook who’s pretty happy about this resolution.
Apple and HTC issued a joint press release today about the end of this patent dispute. Talking about this news, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook says:
“We are glad to have reached a settlement with HTC,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. “We will continue to stay laser focused on product innovation.”
We wish something of this sort happens between Samsung and Apple. But this does look like a Tim Cook’s move.
