Microsoft retires Twitter & Facebook apps for Xbox 360.

Microsoft has made something not-so-welcoming to its Xbox 360 users. The company has retired the Twitter and Facebook applications from the Xbox 360, forcing people to use the Internet Explorer 9.

While the entire world moves towards integrating the social networks deep into their Operating Systems and other platforms, Microsoft has thought something different. The company has decided to retire the apps with Twitter and Facebook integration, leaving users in awe. On talking about this move, Microsoft’s spokesperson told IGN that this move would streamline the app functionality for the users on Xbox 360.

I personally think that this is a clear stupid move that none of the other company would think of. Pushing users to use their stock products are good, but degrading the users’ experience to make the push is a bad move from any company.  Here’s the statement the company issued to Neowin on this move to remove Twitter and Facebook integration:

We are retiring the Facebook and Twitter apps. Xbox LIVE subscribers will have the ability to access these sites through Internet Explorer on Xbox, available through the Web Hub located on the new dashboard.

This is a clear sign of poor Internet Explorer user base on Xbox 360, and this is a move by Microsoft that the company is looking to increase the IE user base by removing Twitter and Facebook apps.
