AirTel is sending out SMS notifying users about the latest iOS 6 upgrade that is available for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. This is the first time ever the company is sending out reminders of this kind.
AirTel has been selling quite a bit of iPhones in India for the past few years, and the customers have been happy about the plans that the mobile service provider offer. AirTel is known for adopting the latest technologies out there in the market, and now, the company is sending out SMS notifications to the customers who have a iOS 6 capable device, running on lower versions of iOS.
The picture below shows the message that Manish Agarwal received from the company to let him know about the upgrade’s availability. Unfortunately, I did not get such SMS may be because I was on iOS 6 already. Here’s what the SMS read:
“Namaste! New iOS 6 Software Update for your Apple Device is here! Please upgrade for better data experience at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1578“
Its nice to see that the company is pushing out such alerts. This would indeed increase the iOS 6 user base in India.
Edit: Sachin just corrected me that Manish is already on iOS 6.
