Apple might have dropped the native stock YouTube app, but then, Google has released its native YouTube app for iOS.
The App looks beautiful and it works really fast, even on iPhone 3GS. The YouTube for iOS is available as a free download from the iOS app store. While we just have one day to go for some big launches from Apple, Google has made available its own YouTube app, that makes sense. Starting with iOS6, YouTube will be an optional app, instead of a native stock app that comes installed by default in the OS.
The new YouTube for iOS app, is pretty brilliant, and elegant. The app supports all the native YouTube features that were available in the native app, and also is faster than it was. Here’s the changelog for the new app:
- Enjoy YouTube’s vast video catalog, including official music videos
- Find videos and channels more easily with voice search and query autocomplete
- Subscribe to channels and instantly access your subscriptions with the channel guide UI
- Read comments, browse related videos, enable subtitles and more – all while watching
- Easy video sharing to Google+, E-mail, Facebook and Twitter
