Unlocked iPhone 5 to cost $699 for 16GB and not $649

Apple’s iPhone 5 will be available for $699 for 16GB, $799 for 32GB and $899 for 64GB. The prices are not starting at $649, as noted by many blogs previously.

Many of the tech blogs have reported that the unlocked iPhone 5 will be available for $649 for the 16GB models. But then, there weren’t any proofs like screenshots of such to back these up. But today, the Online Apple Store in Canada has been clearly showing the price as $699 for the 16GB unlocked iPhone 5.

The new iPhone 5 is available for pre-order in Canada. And the unlocked iPhone is available for purchase only via Online Apple Store at this point of time. I’m not sure when the device will be available for purchase from the Retail Stores.

If I remember correctly, Apple’s iPhone 4S also costed $699 for the unlocked 16GB model when it launched last year. And I was just thinking how Apple could reduce the price by nearly $50 for the new unlocked iPhone 5. But now, its clear that for anyone who’s looking out to purchase the iPhone 5 to be used in any carrier, they would have to pay out a $699 for the 16GB model, $799 for the 32GB model and $899 for the 64Gb model.

Also, on the other side, Apple is in full swing to get their Apple Store in India early next year. You can check out Apple’s online store in Canada to check and pre-order the unlocked iPhone 5 details.

Here are some of the screenshots:
