Tourists visiting India can no longer use their SIM cards more than three months. Department of Telecommunications has issued a statement to the Indian mobile operators to not to issue the SIM cards with more than 3 months validity to the Indian tourists.
There was no restriction like this before for the tourists who visit India and get pre-paid SIM Cards from the Indian Mobile carriers. But from now, the restriction has come in place to prevent any misuse of their SIM cards once they leave the country. Moreover, the tourists SIM cards should be activated only after they sign on the dotted lines of the Consumer Application Form card application form.
Its pretty good to see that these rules are coming in place, and this is a clear sign that the government is taking the security issues seriously.
