TextMate 2, one of the most popular and powerful text editing software for the Mac has now gone Open Source. The company has now uploaded the source to the GitHub!
TextMate 2 came out with a lot of fanfare sometime back, and it has been gaining some good response from the Mac users. And today, TextMate 2 is available for the public via GitHub. The developers have revealed that they want to encourage the hackers out there who would want to get their hands dirty with the code, and integrate it with some other application.
The code is available under the GPL 3 license, to just avoid some closed source fork for the code. Right now, the code can be used by getting in contact with the team over at Macromates, and then get the premium software to mess up with the code.
The code in the GitHub can be used to develop third party extensions for applications that needs the power of TextMate. If you are one of those, who would like to get the code, and discuss something over, just head over to this IRC channel to take it forward!
