Samsung Galaxy Camera: 16.3 megapixel, Android 4.1, Network connectivity and more

Samsung unveiled some pretty good products at its Mobile Unpacked event at Berlin, and one of the device that was not expected, but made an appearance was the Samsung Galaxy Camera, powered by Android 4.1.

This is probably the second Camera that’s powered by Android. But then, Galaxy Camera is powered by the latest Android 4.1, which is yet to make it to a lot of the smartphones out there in the market. The specs for the Camera looks pretty good. Let’s now take a quick look at the specs now:

The Galaxy Camera comes with a 16.3 megapixel, 21x optical zoom with a 308ppi screen. The camera is capable of doing all that your Android smartphone could do, except to make phone calls. Meaning, the device has almost all the latest network connectivity modules like 3G, 4G and WiFi. The camera, which runs Android 4.1, is backed up by 1.4GHz quad-core processor, a 8GB built-in storage and also additional slot for micro SD cards.

The idea behind bringing this camera to the market was to enable the users to manage their photos in a very easy way, just like how they do with their smartphones. Also, instant backup solutions can be easily enabled with the Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, removing the huge hassle that any photographer would have while he is on the move. And the network connectivity would give the users endless sharing options, just like how they’d use their smartphone to share content.

Samsung has also build a lot of new features specifically for the camera, wherein a user can add text to an image that he just took, by just tapping the picture, which would in turn bring up the on-screen keyboard, letting the user key-in the content he wants to put on the picture. Users can also tag, edit and share their photos in a jiffy, once the picture has been clicked.

But wait, Android is powered, and do we have access to Google Play Store? Well, the answer is Yes! We do have access to Play Store and also Samsung Apps that come with the regular Galaxy devices. Moreover, Samsung has also included Voice Commands for zooming, clicking and other essential operations that a user using a camera would want to do.

Samsung is yet to unveil the pricing and availability of the Galaxy Camera. But it is expected to hit the market later this year.
