According to an internal memo that Microsoft has sent out to its employees, the company is planning to drop the Metro tag in its products due to a reason that’s still not clear. And the company would come out with an alternative name later next week!
Microsoft has been promoting their Windows 8 with the Metro tag for so long now, but looks like they are facing some tough time fighting the Metro name dispute with someone. The company has now sent out an internal memo, stating that the Windows maker would not be using the term Metro to its products. Instead, they would be coming out with another name in a weeks’ time. But what would the employees do until they get their name? Well, Microsoft has instructed its employees to use ‘Windows 8 Style UI’, instead of using the current ‘Metro UI’.
But I am still skeptical about this change, since the company has used the ‘Metro’ name across the Windows 8 system itself. And the company just revealed the roadmap for the RTM version of Windows 8 yesterday. Will Microsoft change the code where Metro is being used just for this? Or will Microsoft postpone the release date to the developers? We’ll keep you posted!
