Yahoo! has retuned the trademarks it acquired from Barito Labs for Koprol back to them, soon after Marissa Mayer took charge as the CEO of the company.
Yahoo! acquired a startup named Koprol a few years back, and now, the company has returned their trademarks back to its original founders as the company moves towards a leaner and focussed ecosystem inside the company. This came into effect as soon as the company’s new CEO, Marissa Mayer took charge.
Who were Koprol?
Koprol was a mobile application development company that had a very talented team working on various mobile applications. The company is based out of Indonesia, and was acquired by Yahoo! a few years back. The company got a lot of attention when they developed an app, much like FourSquare for Indonesia.
What really happened at Yahoo! with the Koprol team?
Yahoo! has had a very unfortunate year. And the company has a lot of layoffs in the past few years, and unfortunately, the company included the Koprol team in it!
So, what would happen to Koprol now?
Now that the team has returned to its original founders, the Koprol team is expected to do a great job again! The team has already started off with the development of new mobile applications. The team is working for two mobile applications currently, one for Jakarta based Ice House, a shopping based company, that aims at some great mobile applications.
While this looks positive to both Yahoo! and Koprol, I personally feel that this move by Marissa Mayer is much more bold and worth the move. I think she does not want to waste some talents.
