Twitter for iOS has received a major update since 4.2. The new update brings enhanced notifications, expanded tweets, and newer navigation and some bug fixes. The app is now available via App Store for both iPhone and iPad.
Twitter has been working on to update their Twitter app for iOS lately, and today, after a minor leak about the changelog, the company released the version 4.3 of the app to the App Store. The company revealed this information in their official blog today, stating:
Since we introduced expanded Tweets on twitter.com, we’ve added several new partners like MLB and C-SPAN to a diverse and growing list of media sources. Starting today, you can also expand Tweets on Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android. When you tap a Tweet linking to a Kickstarter project, for example, you can play its video directly from the Tweet details view in your app. You can also read article summaries when you tap Tweets linking to sources like The Atlantic or play videos or view images when you expand Tweets linking to websites like Etsy and Vimeo. This new experience will roll out gradually to web, iPhone and Android users.
The new app includes loads of new features like enhanced notification across the app. The app also notifies about new notifications when inside the app, just like how Tweetbot works. The users will now be able to set custom notifications like for breaking news, notifications when a user tweets and such.
The users will now be able to expand the tweets inside the app. But if you are a twitter power user with lots of followers, and who live on notifications, this app is yet to reach that level of maturity. The app works super great for new Twitter users. After meddling with the app for a while, we thought Tweetbot still wins the battle for the best Twitter client for the iOS.
