Scott Thompson, who was replaced by Google’s Marissa Mayer as the Yahoo!’s CEO, has now got a new job at ShopRunner as the company’s CEO.
There was a huge change in the management when the Yahoo!’s board came to know that the degree certificate that Scott Thompson projected was fake. He was immediately fired from the company, and then, he was replaced by Google’s Marissa Mayer as the CEO of the internet giant. But now, Scott Thompson has been offered the role of CEO at ShopRunner, an online shopping website, backed up by PayPal.
Talking about this new move, Scott says:
“Joining ShopRunner is a tremendous opportunity to build on the strong foundation that the company has already established.
While PayPal and ShopRunner are fundamentally different businesses, there are similarities in each of their success. Both companies are focused on building the broadest network of satisfied merchants by providing the value that creates a large and loyal customer community, creating a virtuous circle.”
While many may see it as a calculated risk by ShopRunner, the confidence in Scott Thompson would keep him going, even after the turbulence he experienced at Yahoo!
