Mozilla releases Firefox 14 for Mac and Windows! Allows you to load plugins on click to manage memory!

Firefox 14 for Mac and Windows is now available for download through the stable channel. The new update brings some new features like Full Screen support for Mac OS X Lion, forced HTTPS support for Google search and much more.

Firefox has been under the rapid release cycle for a long time now, and new releases are made every now and then. In this pace, Mozilla has released the next version of Firefox, the Firefox 14 for both Mac and Windows. If you could remember, Firefox 13 bought in a lot of new features like redesigned Home and New Tabs page, intuitive Awesome Bar and much more. While Firefox 13 was a worthy upgrade, we hope the Firefox 14 is also worth the upgrade!

One of the major new feature I liked in this version of Firefox is that the ability to load a plugin on load. Users will now be able to load a plugin only when he needs. This can be configured via the Preference, though this was already present by changing the about:config preferences. And also, just like the Chrome and Safari 6, the Awesome Bar now auto-completes the URLs that were already typed!

Here’s the complete changelog of the new Firefox 14 for Windows and Mac. Also, hit the download link below to get a copy of the standalone installer or just hit the upgrade button in Firefox.

New Security Features and Developer Tools Now in Firefox

Firefox has new features that make browsing more secure and Web applications like games more powerful.

We automatically make your Google searches secure in Firefox to protect your data from potentially prying eyes, like network administrators when you use public or shared WiFi networks. Google is currently the only search engine that allows Firefox to make your searches private, but we look forward to supporting additional search engines with this feature in the future.

Firefox makes it easier to see a website’s verified identity by changing the way that we display the icon to the left of the URL.

For developers, Firefox now supports Pointer Lock API to allow applications, including first-person shooter games like Call of Duty and Halo, to better control the mouse. Firefox now supports native fullscreen mode on OS X Lion 10.7 for a better experience with videos and Web games like Mozilla’s BrowserQuest.
