Microsoft has officially confirmed that the Windows 8 will be available for upgrade in 131 markets at $39.99 for online upgrade process and $69.99 for getting Windows 8 upgraded DVD from the stores.

Looks like Microsoft is nearing completion of its Windows 8 Operating System. The company today announced the upgrade pricing for users who wish to upgrade their PCs from Windows XP or Windows Vista or Windows 7. The company has revealed that the online upgrade pricing would be $39.99 and the upgrade process will automatically happen after the purchase. But for the customers who prefer to get the upgrade from the stores, they’d be charged $69.99.

Microsoft says that the customers who have a valid copy of Windows are currently eligible for the upgrade. And the upgrade offer is valid till January 13th 2013. This date is also expected to get extended to some more days after Windows 8 hits the public. Moreover, the customers on older versions of Windows will be able to upgrade using an upgrade advisor that will lead your PC into Windows 8, after successful purchase. Moreover, Microsoft is also offering Windows Media Center for free and the feature can be added to the upgrade process by selecting Windows Media Center under the features section of the installation!

While this might be a reasonable pricing, the competitors like Apple have priced their Mountain Lion OS at just $19.99! We have also reached out to Microsoft in India to get the Indian pricing for Windows 8 upgrade, since it was originally said that it would cost just ₹699!
