While Intel’s current processors struggle to get Jelly Bean update, the company is closely working with Google to bring the latest version of Android to its upcoming Atom processors!
Intel is now working on its low-power Atom Processors to support Andoid 4.1 “Jelly Bean”. The company has not declared any time frame yet. The message has been published:
“Intel continues to work closely with Google to enable future versions of Android, including ‘Jelly Bean,’ on our family of low-power Atom processors,” said Suzy Greenberg, a company spokeswoman.
Recently Intel has released a Android ICS SDK for its processors that would enable the developers to enjoy a faster and a native emulator with fewer bugs. This means a better system for building and testing. Porting the latest version of Jelly Bean to Atom processor would really define the power of Jelly Bean to the developers.
This would be a better leap for the developers, as they would be writing on Intel processors. But Intel has a minimal presence in the smartphone and tablet markets currently, and the market is dominated by ARM. The first tablet to get Android 4.1 was Google’s Nexus 7, which was based on an ARM processor. Device makers that license ARM processors such as Asus and HTC are about to get over-the-air updates to Android 4.1 for their devices.
Intel is a big hardware maker of Android devices and it is Medfield, which has gone into the smartphones and tablets currently. Intel Inside smartphones carry Medfield chips, and a few tablets have been announced with Medfield.
Google has also said it would release an Android Platform Development Kit (PDK) to hardware companies to customize the OS for a specific chipset or device ahead of release. However this is a glad news for the users to enjoy their favoured environment in the latest version on a low-power Processor. As the deadline has not been fixed it has increased everyones curiosity.
