Here’a another buy back. Comcast has bought 50% of the stake from Microsoft for MSNBC.com to gain control of the news site again!
Comcast has been the parent company of NBC, which is a hugely popular news website in the world. Microsoft bought 50% of the stake from the company for the website back in 1996 and has been holding the stake till today. But now, Comcast has got its remaining stake back from Microsoft for about $300 million and if you are trying to access the website, MSNBC.com, it would now take you to NBCNews.com.
Talking about this acquisition, Jennifer Sizemore, Editor-in-Chief of NBCNews has written:
“MSNBC TV will launch a new digital home in 2013, as an extension of the MSNBC TV on-air brand,”
Well, we think Comcast has got a lot of plans going further. You could read the entire welcome note from her here. And also, the website has posted about the reason for this buyback here.
