Ubuntu Mobile demoed! Transforms into Desktop OS when connected to Dock! Coming next year!

Here’s something that’s really really interesting happening at Canonical, the company behind the development of the hugely popular Open Source Operating System, Ubuntu. The company demoed the Ubuntu for Mobile at Computex 2012, and has revealed that they are bringing this operating system to the hands of the customers as early as next year. Talking about the progress they are making with this Operating System, Mr. Mark Shuttleworth said the PC World that the Operating System is under full fledged development and they are expecting it to go public early next year.

Well, this is not all. The company’s demo showcased the Ubuntu Mobile running on a mobile device dual-booting along with Android. But wait, there was one more thing that they had with this mobile OS. When a user connects the device running Ubuntu Mobile to a dock, that’s inturn connected to a TV or a monitor, instead of mirroring the mobile screen, the OS would transform itself into a full-fledged desktop operating system, along with Software Center of Ubuntu to download applications.

This is an interesting concept Operating System for the mobile phone users that Canonical is building. And talking about the release, the company is skeptical that the demand from the manufacturers for dual-booting operating systems on mobile, is heating up and they are pushing it hard to bring it later this year or early next year.

This would infact build a whole new ecosystem in the mobile market. Imaging carrying your Android Smartphone with you and with a touch of a button, you transform into a full fledged desktop operating system, by booting it into Ubuntu and connecting it to a dock. Wow! That’s exciting!
