Microsoft Surface tablets unveiled at today’s media event!

It’s been sometime since we saw the core Microsoft team on stage for a product unveiling, but today, it has changed, as Microsoft unveiled their major new product, the Microsoft Surface tablets. Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer took stage to discuss some initial information about the company’s well being with Xbox, Kinect and Windows 8. And then it was Steven Sinofsky, who came on stage to unveil the new shiny product, the Microsoft Surface.

The Microsoft Surface tablet would come in two variants. One would run the proper Windows 8 with Intel’s 22nm Ivy Bridge processor and the other would be a proper tablet, running the cut down version of Windows 8, the Windows RT with a ARM processor. The Windows RT version of the tablet would weigh just 1.5lbs and is just 9.3mm thin (Which is really competitive). The Windows RT Surface tablet would come with a new Kickstand, which comes along with the body of the tablet, and is built with a vapor-deposited (PVD) magnesium case.

This is a major leap for Microsoft, as they are stepping into the tablet market. While many think that this is too late, But Microsoft thinks that its never too late for anything unless the product is stable and sturdy. The pricing and other details of the tablets are still unknown. But Microsoft is expected to out these tablets into the market later this year, as Windows 8 debuts to the public.
