Microsoft releases Windows Server 2012 Release Candidate for Download!

Microsoft has just released the RC version of the hugely expected Windows Server 2012, with loads of new improvements that we’d ever wanted to have in this Operating System.

It was Windows Server 2008 R2 that has been working so hard for so long on all the servers, but now, this biggie has a company. Microsoft’s new Windows Server 2012 is here and brings the same Metro UI to replace the typical Start menu. Also, the OS has a new Server Manager and features the ReFS (Resilent File System), that can handle large volumes. This provides support for the fast growing file storage devices that are coming in the future.

The ReFS will be the much talked about feature of the Windows Server 2012. Talking about the compatibility of the applications that are currently running on Windows Server 2008, Microsoft says: “It should run on Windows Server 2012 too.”. But the word should is not very concrete that the apps will run on Windows Server 2012.

The Windows Server 2012 RC is available for download right away in two variants:

Here’s the quick changelog that Microsoft has published:

Windows Server 2012 Release Candidate (RC):

  • Takes you beyond virtualization
  • Delivers the power of many servers with the simplicity of one
  • Opens the door to every app on any cloud
  • Enables the modern work style
