There’s been a lot of expectations from Google’s Developers if the company would be opening their Google Drive API to third-party apps. But now, the request has been accepted by Google. The company has opened up the API to third-party developers to enable Google Drive integration into their apps and software. This opens a whole lot of opportunities for both the developers and the company, for developing Google Drive in the future.+
It was at Google I/O that the company released the version 2 of their Google Drive API. And with this new version, the company is bringing some huge improvements to the API. If you take the history of cloud storage services that has provided APIs for third-party apps, it has only been Dropbox that was successful in doing so. But now, it has got a competition with Google Drive stepping into it. But wait, Apple is also slowly moving into this kind of API support for the developers and there’s been a huge welcome at this point of time for Apple. This would open up a lot of new opportunities for Google to grow their Drive. And with Google Drive supporting a lot of new file formats, this is a boon for the developers implementing it.
