Android Ice Cream Sandwich now running on 7.1% of devices. But still falls short of its previous version!

Google has released their report saying that the latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich now runs on 7.1% of the Android devices across the world.

It was October 2011 when Google released their next major version of Android, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich to the public and its not been making any groundbreaking progress ever since. Google has been pushing some manufacturers to upgrade their devices to ICS, but its been going in vain for sometime now. But today, the company has released a statistic, which reads, ICS now contributes to 7.1% of the Android devices across the globe. While this might seem like a good number, the Android 2.3.x runs on 64% of the devices across the globe.

This is a pretty good and welcoming increase when compared to the marketshare that ICS has a few months back. Ice Cream Sandwich contributed to just 1.6% of the total devices running Android. Well, there’s Jelly Bean coming already at Google IO this year. We need to see how this would scale up in the future!
