Telepod brings Holographic 3D Video Conferencing to real world with Kinect!

Telepod is a new technology that brings Holographic 3D Video Conferencing to real world with Microsoft Kinect! And yes! This is working as expected now!

Microsoft brought one of the best innovation in the history of technology a few years back. And that was undoubtedly it is the Microsoft Kinect! Now, Kinect has got another use for itself. A new device developed by a group os researchers at Kingston brings the always wanted technology, the Holographic Video Conferencing with 3D effects.

The device has six Microsoft Kinect sensors that is fair enough to cover a large part of the room in which we are conferencing, and also, a 3D projector in it. To initiate a conference, a person has to stand in front of his Telepod, and the advanced sensors would detect and capture a 3D Holographic images of the object in front of it (Which would be you!) and then, it would send this holographic capture to the counterpart Telepod device.

As the years go by, we would probably see all of the Star Trek technologies in real-life. Besides Telepod, they have also come up with another device called the Biopod, that would do the same work that Telepod does, but brings a better picture of the Human Bodies, mainly for Bio-Medical applications. At this pace, remote surgeries would be pretty much possible!
