Samsung Galaxy S III is now an Official Olympic phone! Enables Payments via NFC for athletes

Visa and Samsung has joined hands to launch a new limited edition Olympic series phone for the Olympic Games, which would happen this year. And the device would be none other than the Samsung’s new Galaxy S III.

Galaxy S III launched in London, with a huge fanfare last week, after the company posted a series of teasing videos and campaigns. The device would now be used in the Olympics for accepting payments from the athletes via Galaxy S III’s NFC.

Visa has been keen on bringing NFC payments to the forefront lately, and they had got this opportunity to use the Samsung’s NFC technology to accept payments from the Athletes. Visa has got their own technology named payWave, which accepts NFC payments and the app is available for Android, which offers contactless payments to users.

Visa payWave is a technology that accepts money transfers by just allowing an user to hold their NFC enabled device near the device and that’s it, the payment would be made. The balance would be displayed in real-time and users will be able to use the service for more than £15.
