Samsung today unveiled the new Galaxy S III in India and with this new device, which gets added to the Galaxy line up, the company expects to consume over 60% of the smartphone marketshare in India.
Samsung Electronics have been making waves for their low-end Android devices in India already and the country has turned out to be their major mobile phone market. While talking about Samsung’s performance this year, Mr. Ranjit Yadav, India Head, Mobile and IT at Samsung said:
“According to third party data, we have almost 46 percent share in the Indian smartphone market. We are confident of increasing this to 60 percent this year,”
Samsung has already sold over 18 million units in just 5 months in India, and at this rate, it looks like this is achievable. The Galaxy S III has been priced at Rs. 43,180 in India and is expected to do a decent job among the high profile crowd in the country.
The Galaxy S III is now available at all major mobile outlets in India and they have also hinted at some more products in the country. While we are still not clear about when the recently launched Music Hub by Samsung is going to be launched in the country.
