Google follow Apple’s lead. Implements In-App Subscriptions for apps on Google Play!

Google has started rolling out in-app subscriptions for apps on Google Play. Moreover, the company is also rolling out subscriptions via a web based API, that will allow apps to check subscription status and are not bound to Android apps alone.

Google’s in-app subscription for apps on Google Play has been a long awaited feature required by the developers. But today, Google rolled out this feature to all the apps that may want to use Google’s in-app subscription. While Apple had this feature long back, Google has made a difference in making this an open platform (once again). Meaning, if you subscribe for a subscription in an Android app, you can actually restore the same subscription on the website as well. This is done using a new Web API that Google is rolling out with this feature.

This feature is pretty good for all the apps on the Google Play Store and is not restricted to the magazines and newspapers alone. This new facility is available to all the Android users using Google Play via an update that Google has pushed today. You can try this for yourself by just updating your Google Play Store on your Android device.
