Facebook now supports ‘Organ Donor’ status in Timeline!

Facebook has now added a new status to the Timeline, just like the Lifetime Event, called Organ Donor, which allows millions of users to let others know that they are organ donors.

Facebook would currently help people who are wanting to know about who are organ donors across the world. The option is present under Health and Wellness section. The new status allows you to specify the place where you have registered as an organ donor. This is not all, you can also specify the background of why you chose to donate organ to the public.

The update is slowly being pushed to all the 900 million users on Facebook and this would help Facebook create a huge repository of organ donors and help people identify potential donors in their area with ease. Facebook explains the new feature:

With the addition of “organ donor” to the Life Events section of timeline, you can state your intention to become an organ donor, and share your story about when, where or why you decided to become a donor. If you are not officially registered as an organ donor, sign up with the appropriate registry.

Moreover, Mark Zukerberg and Sandberg says:

Facebook’s mission is simple: to make the world more open and connected. But the Facebook community has also shown us that simply through sharing and connecting, the world gets smaller and better. Even one individual can have an outsized impact on the challenges facing another, and on the world. At Facebook, we call that the power of friends.

These are pretty useful feature that the company is implementing. And not too long from now, we’d see Facebook as everything we need to know around you kind of social network.
