Apple reaches 17th Position from 35 in just a year on Fortune 500 Companies list!

Apple has reached the 17th position in the list of Fortune 500 companies in the world in just under a year. The company was listed on the 35th position last year and this is a huge jump for the company when compared to previous years.

Despite getting the 17th position from 35, the company is yet to reach the top 5, which are occupied by Exxon Mobil, Wal-Mart Stores, Chevron, ConocoPhilips and General Motors. And surprisingly, one of the technology thought leader, HP is at number 10 in the list.

Another interesting fact to note from this list is that, IBM, the company that Steve Jobs thought as their main competitor is trailing behind Apple at 19th position. Steve would have been happy to see this if he’d lived a little longer.

Wait, there’s more. We had talked about Apple, HP and IBM. But where’s Microsoft, Google and Dell in the list? Wonder not. They are on the list though. But are trailing way behind Apple. Microsoft is at the 37th spot, Google at 77th Spot (Yes!! 77) and Dell is at number 44 in the Fortune 500 companies list.

Steve must be similing from somwhere looking at this!
