Apple iPad: A Trend setter in Tablet riot? [The 4Cast Insight]

Apple’s of the ambitious product Ipad, when launched, was doubtful for its success because of few reasons. Main challenge for this gadget was to compete the market and popularity of PC’s. But along with the time ipad proved its utility and broke all the records of market sells figure. For now, Apple has been known to produce products that sell like hot cake and people are really crazy for this.

The series started from ipod, a portable music playing device extended with features like the Nano and Shuffle that made the people go crazy over it. It was succeeded by iphone, a smartphone that has all the features clubbed up and that too with touchscreen when Blackberry QWERTY keyboard phones. These features were supposedly ruling the market trend. Ipad succeeded it and proved the critics again wrong who have predicted that the tablet computer manufactured by Apple would be a big flop in the market. The rival companies took to developing their range of tablet computers but it was crystal clear that ipad had combined all the features a tablet computer could have.

The ipad is definitely a trend setter in the market of tablet computers where Apple is already known for its prediction of future in the field of technology. There is not a single doubt that ipad has got some faults in fact initial orders for the Ipad before its official launch sold out in a few days and the next order was placed to the company.

Apple and its competitors

Apple controls both the operating system as well as the hardware design of the iPad and thus it attain design efficiencies that the other tablet manufacturers are not able to achieve. The efficiencies are seen in areas like that of the memory and the life of battery. Also Apple maintains a high head in cost, space savings and performance as compared with its rivals in the market.

When a serious competitor, Motorola Xoom launched its tablet computer, steve Jobs announced the launch of ipad 2 that was even thinner than its predecessor, faster and also came equipped with front and rear end cameras.

Apple always takes a “vertically integrated” approach with regard to its products, starting from the Operating system through the user interface and the hardware design, even down to the selection of individual parts used in the device.

With control over the operating system, the cost is considerably reduced since the quantity of memory in the Ipad is reduced. The latest generation Ipad 2 has only 512MB of SDRAM which is half of the 1GB used in competitive designs reducing cost at least by 14 dollars. Also superb management of its product design along with software integration plus component selection allows the makers to produce an Ipad with a thinner battery than all competing tablet designs but with the largest capacity.

Conclusion

Today the users need a several devices and all of the data like files, documents, pictures etc to be available on all of them and all the time. This need was realized when Apple released its service known as iCloud that Tim Cook, chief executive of Apple, described as Apple’s “strategy for the next ten years”. iCloud seamlessly syncs data like photos, documents, videos, songs and much more between all Apple’s computers and mobile devices.

Apple’s ipad is definitely a trendsetter and the day is not far away when this trend will continue with the introduction of tablets that feature quad-core processors for more enhanced performance.
