Qualcomm will soon obtain the rights and spectrum to commence their High Speed BroadBand connection in four major places in India very soon.
The US based largest Chipmaker had earlier paid $1 billion to get the licenses for the broadband spectrum to brovide high-speed broadband in these cities. And after about two full years, the Government has thought out to provide the licenses to Qualcomm. “Very shortly the final decision will be taken. There is nothing that is holding it back it is just a process that has to be taken internally,” says Mr. R. Chandrashekar, Telecom Secretary in India.
This is a major move by the Indian Government since there aren’t many foreign broadband providers in the country. Qualcomm was initially rejected the appeal to acquire the licenses for the Broadband services back in 2010. But this time, they seemed to have succeeded!
