Karbonn mobiles have already started the pre-orders for their tablet device, which starts at Rs. 6,999. The date at which the device will be available to the customers is still unknown.
Karbonn is one of the media core mobile brand in India and the company has now stepped into the tablet market with their new Karbonn Smart Tab 1. The tablet sports a 17.8 centimeter screen, with a 1.2GHz processor, and as usual, it runs the latest version of Android, the Android 4.0.3.
The 2 megapixel camera is pretty decent and the device produces good download speeds with its WiFi and 3G capabilities. The HDMI out is an added advantage to the device and the battery is pretty stable, and lasts upto 3 hours straight.
On the other hand, the Karbonn Smart Tab 1 poses a direct competition to the MicroMax FunBook, which also costs around the same price range in India. So is this just a start that India has started producing and has started proving that the low cost Android tablets can make an impact in the market? Well, we can’t bet on it now, until we see someone tasting success with these tablets.
