Pottermore registrations are now open for the public!

J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore website registrations are now open for the public. The websites lets you explore Harry Potter books and also interact with other Potter fans. The website was in beta for less than a year now and today, the registrations have opened up to the public. J.K. Rowling launched the website back in June last year, and allowed the users to purchase some products of the Franchise. For the first time ever, Harry Potter books were also available for purchase in an eBook format on the Pottermore.com website and it generated a whooping $1.5 million in revenue in just three days.

Registering to the site does not make sure that you are in. Users are still moderated and an email will be triggered to you once you have been accepted. A recent blogpost from the Pottermore team also revealed this information that they are moderating users in waves:

Over the coming days, we’ll be inviting new users onto Pottermore.com. We’re expecting to be really busy to start with and plan to activate new registrations in a steady stream. This means that you may not get access to Pottermore immediately after you sign up but we will get you exploring the site as quickly possible.

What’s interesting is that J.K. Rowling has written over 18,000 words again for the website talking about the characters, places and other parts of the story. To be precise, the website is a complete and closed social network for Harry Potter fans.
