Intel has finally entered the Smartphone market with its first Completely Intel Based device, called Xolo X900, an Android 2.3 Gingerbread Phone, sporting a 1.6 GHz Intel Medfield processor, 4-inch screen and a 8 megapixel camera.
Its been so long that Intel has been wanting to enter the mobile phone market. And this year, it has turned out to be true. The world’s most popular computer Processor maker, Intel had earlier promised that they would bring a Android smartphone to the market in the first Quarter of 2012 and they have kept the promise up. These Intel Based devices will be sold by a not so popular mobile manufacturer, Lava, in India and who know, probably across the globe.
There’s going to be a lot of these Intel Based smartphones coming up in the market, and besides Lava, Microsoft, Lenovo and Orange UK are going to be producing these devices with Intel Chipsets in them. But this is just the start for Intel, and it should not come as a surprise, when Apple and Samsung moves towards Intel based processors in the distant future.
There are some ongoing issues with the Intel based processors. Major issue being the power management done by these processors, the proper cellular network integration and compatibility of these devices with the networks and other platforms.
So, what’s next? Its’ going to be Intel vs ARM in the market, But not many users would be caring about these specs in depth, unless they are in some real trouble getting one of these emerging devices.
