Disable or Remove Adobe Reader on your Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion with these simple steps [One line of code to be precise].
There’s been a lot of reports that Mac OS X has been infected by a malware that are present in a lot of Macs than we ever expected. What if you are one of them, infected with this malware, that’s making rounds? Well, this post is the one of the post in the Mac Malware Protection series.
Adobe’s Acrobat Reader, which is used for PDF reading can be a potential threat to most of these malware. The software experienced multiple security breaches lately and it is now upto us to protect our Macs against these. So the better way is to remove the software completely and use the default app, Preview, to view the PDFs on Mac.
There are multiple ways to uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader from your Mac. Just dragging the app from the Applications folder and throwing it into Trash will not help, since the app leaves a lot of plist files on the system. Alternatively, you could use AppTrap, a opensource application uninstaller, that runs as a service on your Mac would help you remove the app (Any application) completely from the System.
- Download AppTrap for Mac, and enable it under the System Preferences.
- Once done, just go to Applications folder
- Select the app you want to remove
- Drag it into Trash
- Confirm the message it asks to remove all the files associated with it (Only the plist and properties files will be deleted)
- And you are done.
