Here’s how to clear or re-calculate the Other storage space when you connect your iPhone or iPad or iPod to your iTunes.
There’s been a lot of situations where your device would become full even without you storing a lot of media into your device. The Other section which shows some unknown space occupied actually includes the space occupied by the OS, contacts, messages, and other things like calendar, reminders and such. But there are situations where the Other capacity would be mis-calculated and consumes almost all the free space available in the device.
So, here’s how you could fix this issue very easily. There wouldn’t be any data loss in this process and you don’t have to worry about it. Make sure you have your battery charged so that the device restarts correctly.
How to fix Other section space miscalculation in iTunes:
- Connect the iPad, iPod, or iPhone to a computer
- Launch iTunes
- Hold the Power and Home button until the device blanks out
- Give it 10 seconds, and restart the device again
And that’s it. You should now see the other section’s occupied space being calculated correctly!
