Square has been around for sometime now, making payments much easier than we thought it would be with Square for iOS. The app allows the vendors to read credit cards on their iOS devices, giving them a freedom to roam across the store to get their payments done. And now, the company has come out with another app called the Square Register, which lets the merchants to take and process credit and debit card payments without their traditional card reader attached to the device.
So, how do they do it?
The app now uses a very small reader, that sits into the headphone jack to process the credit and debit card readings. The reader is now available for free and the app comes with a lot of new features to benefit both the merchants and the customers making their payments.
The Square Register allows the merchants to add photos, names, prices and inventory details to the app and enable fast-checkout to process the payments. The app also offers analytics to track the best-selling and the lease-selling products in the inventory. And with AirPlay printing, the app can also print the receipts to the nearest printer wirelessly.
Cost of the App:
The app is now available for free, but Square charges 2.75% on every swipe made on the device using their app and reader. The reader is compatible with Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. But this is still cheaper when compared to the touch-screen and computer based registry systems being used by the merchants.
Square Register is compatible only with iOS 5.0 or later on iPads.
