Ever wondered how those Extraterrestrial signals sound like? And what would you do if you get a change to hear those directly from the satellite, Live? Well, then here’s a way to do so. SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) has unveiled a new way to let us listen to these signal live from the satellites.
SETI had recently cleared off and restarted their Alien Telescope Array (ATA) that sends these radio frequencies gathered. The signals are transmitted to us live from SETI’s ATA based on the Kepler exoplanet discovery, which is believed to be the home for alien civilization.
SETI Live will ask you for signs of unusual activity and the project thinks that we could find things that the other automated system can find. The project is run by Dr. Jillian Tarter, Director of SETI Institute’s Center for SETI Research and she announced this at TED Los Angeles.
Here’s what she thinks about this new SETI Live project:
“There are frequencies that our automated signal detection systems now ignore, because there are too many signals there, Most are created by Earth’s communication and entertainment technologies, but buried within this noise there may be a signal from a distant technology.
I’m hoping that an army of volunteers can help us deal with these crowded frequency bands that confuse our machines. By doing this in real time, we will have an opportunity to follow up immediately on what our volunteers discover.
If you are among those searching for these kinds of signals and if you think you can find unusual activity happening in the universe, then just head up to this link and start searching.
