3D gaming has taken a serious shape with the new Nintendo 3DS and looks like the customers are liking it. Nintendo 3DS is now the biggest-selling gaming console in Japan already and this has extended to the US too, by selling over 4.5 million units in just 12 months from launch. The Nintendo 3DS has got over 100 titles for sale for the device. The company’s 3DS passed the first year sale of DS when last October and now, the 3DS has been sold twice as much as the DS was sold in Nintendo’s history.
Nintendo expected this growth to be stable for the coming year and the most popular Super Mario 3D has already reached the 1.75 million sales mark. Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aime says:
“Nintendo 3DS closes its first year with a lengthy list of accomplishments but we’re still just scratching the surface. With a massive lineup of first- and third-party games and more on the way, a budding library of entertainment options and an engaged and growing installed base, Nintendo 3DS has an incredibly bright future. We’re just getting started but this platform is built for the long haul.”
While the console keeps getting more and more interesting games like Kid Icarus: Uprising and Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir this year, the device seems to be up on the high among the gamers.
