Hampi Pillars in India being rendered in 3D by Kinect!

We have seen a lot of amazing things that the Kinect can do. But this is something interesting. Kinect has made 3D reconstruction of human faces and many other objects on Earth. And now, the gadget has rendered the India’s Hampi Temple’s pillar in 3D.

Before we go ahead, the Hampi is a heritage place in Karnataka, India. The place is famous for its temples constructed over 1000 years back and the pillars at the Vijayanagara palace are known for their huge numbers (1, 000, 000 Pillars) and for the detailed architectural work that has gone into it. Kinect was put to test at these pillars to see how it renders and it was great to see the results. Another notable point at Hampi is the Vittala Temple, which has got unique musical sounds coming out from the pillars across the temple when tapped.

Here’s the video of Kinect rendering Hampi Pillars in 3D and the above image is the original Hampi Pillar.
