Devs can now submit their HTML5 Apps to the Mozilla Marketplace

Mozilla has opened the app submissions for the Mozilla Marketplace. The developers can now submit their HTML5 apps to the Marketplace and these apps would be checked for the W3C Standardization and then would be put on the store. The new platform will focus completely on the mobile applications that would run HTML5 capable browsers. Apart from this, it is clear that the company is focusing more on the mobile front rather than the desktop apps, since it partnered with Telefonica recently.

The major advantage of these Mozilla Marketplace apps would be that the apps would be interoperable rather than platform specific, since these apps are run with HTML5. Mozilla also wants to make a strong comparison that the web based apps are capable of running in par with the desktop apps. These apps, which are closely bound with the developers can not be cracked or hacked easily. And even if that happens, the developer can always fix it on his side.

There are not much details about the process and how these apps would scale across the markets, but at this point of time, the users should have their own Mozilla Marketplace ID to purchase the apps on the marketplace. Mozilla has also given complete set of resources for the developers to get their hands-on with writing a HTML5 apps and sending it to the Mozilla Marketplace. These apps would come in handy when the company comes up with their own devices, that are Open Web Devices, which would hit the market later this year, via Telefonica.

The Marketplace would be available for the public for testing in the next Quarter (April), and the final public release would happen by the end of this year!
