Apple Releases First Developer Preview Of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion With Messages, Notes, Reminders and Game Center For Mac

Apple has announced that it has released first developers preview of its next generation operating system for Macs, named Mountain Lion. The new OS X is said to bring 100 new features, that includes iOS apps like iMessage, Notes, Reminders, Game Center, Notification Center, Twitter integration and AirPlay Mirroring.

The Mountain Lion will intro a first ever anti virus software for Macs called Gatekeeper. As Apple notes, Gatekeeper is a revolutionary security feature that helps keep you safe from malicious software by giving you complete control over what apps are installed on your Mac.

The new OS X will also come with deeper integration with iCloud to easily set up iCloud and access documents across your devices. The OS will use your Apple ID to automatically set up Contacts, Mail, Calendar, Messages, FaceTime and Find My Mac.

“The Mac is on a roll, growing faster than the PC for 23 straight quarters, and with Mountain Lion things get even better,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “The developer preview of Mountain Lion comes just seven months after the incredibly successful release of Lion and sets a rapid pace of development for the world’s most advanced personal computer operating system.”

The first preview of Mountain Lion is available to registered Mac Developer starting today. And it will be released to public in late summer 2012 via the Mac App Store. Check out introductory video of OS X Mountain Lion below:
