Jonathan Ive is now “Sir Jonathan Ive”

Apple’s chief designer, Jonathan Ive has been awarded with the knighthood in the New Year Honors list. He has been made a Knight Commander of the British Empire!

Apple’s Head of Design, Jonathan Ive has been honored with the Knight Commander of British Empire. Jonathan Ive is a British by birth and joined Apple in the year 1992. Right from the first iMac to the latest iPhone 4S to some more future products to come to the market, Ive has been the master mind behind all these elegant designs.

Ive was included in the New Year Honours list for the Services to design and enterprise. With this award in hand, Ive says he is humbled and sincerely grateful for this new title, that not every designer in the world gets. And also, this is the second time Ive has been honored with such award in the UK. He was awarded The Designer of the Year for 2003 by London’s Design Museum. And adding to this, back in 2005, he was also made the Commander of the British Empire.

Sharing how he feels in getting this honor, Jony Ive says:

I am keenly aware that I benefit from a wonderful tradition in the UK of designing and making. I discovered at an early age that all I’ve ever wanted to do is design.

I think he deserves such awards. If you have been following some Apple news closely, Jonathan Ive has got the highest power at Apple next to Steve. And he also has the technique of getting things done, the right way!
