Microsoft has taken the wrap off a new service called Answer Desk, that promises to provide extensive support for Windows and Microsoft Office users! The service is currently available for the US!
Apple tasted success with Genius bar, that are placed at the Apple Stores across the world. But what’s did Microsoft do to solve the PC user’s woes? Well, they have now bought a new way to get things resolved via the Web called the Answer Desk. The new service is currently restricted to the US customers only.
Answer Desk promises to help people solve the woes that the Windows and Microsoft Office users have on their PCs. The Answer Desk works in the same way as that of the Apple’s Genius Bar. The service offers a free chat initially. Either through phone or through the web. The free chat with the Answer Desk representative would help you solve the problems. If now, you could go for a premium service, that costs $49 per hour for a one-on-one Microsoft product training. Moreover, if you have got some troubleshooting issues, either with the Windows or Microsoft Office, you need to pay $99 for two hours to avail the remote service.
Until now, Microsoft haven’t been taking care of the end-user customer support. All the customer support were provided by the OEMs. But with Answer Desk, Microsoft promises to take down your issues directly. The service would be available all throughout the year without any downtime. May be, this service would be integrated in the upcoming Windows 8? We need to wait for that. You can have a look at the service here. But if you are outside the US, you are out of luck. Microsoft may expand this service across the world soon!
