You can now reset your password with your Apple ID on your Mac OS X Lion. This is an alternative option apart from the regular password reset feature in the new OS X Lion!
Mac OS X Lion has got a cool new feature that allows you to reset your lost password using your Apple ID. This is an added advantage if you fail resetting your password using the regular Mac OS X Lion password reset method! You can now use the same ID that you use for iCloud, iTunes, App Store and other Apple related accounts to reset your password!
The method is very simple. And infact many users can prefer this method, since this is very simple when compared to the regular and moderately complicated method in Mac OS X Lion. So, here’s how you could reset the password using your Apple ID.

As I told earlier, this method will not work if you are using FileVault 2 to encrypt your data.
- Enter password three times on the Mac Login screen. This will expose you to an option to reset your option with Apple ID.
- Now, Click the arrow button to navigate to the Reset Password screen
- Enter your Apple ID and password. Remember. You should enter the ID that you’d previously associated with your Mac OS X Lion.
- Click OK to confirm. This will create a new Keychain.
- Now, enter your new password. Fill the password hint and click on Reset Password.
- You’re almost done. Click on Continue Login. This will now login with the new password that you’ve created!
