Apple pushes minor update for iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4S users to fix “No SIM Card Installed” issue!

Apple has bundled a fix for the iPhone 4S’ No SIM Card Installed problem in the latest update for iOS 5.0.1 which is available for download Over-The-Air.

Apple recently pushed a new build of the same iOS 5.0.1 to limited users who were potentially facing the No SIM Card Installed issues on their iPhone 4S. Apple initially posted a support document about this minor update, but then the documents is not available now! The update has almost fixed all the SIM card related issues that the users were facing lately.

The issue first came out in the Apple Discussion Forums and then went big with some users complaining about the issue. This caught the Apple’s attention and the company has now issued the fix to the users. The fix works automatically for the users who update to iOS 5.0.1 from yesterday. Even though Apple pulled the support document off their website, We managed to get a copy of the change log. Here’s the official change log of the new build of iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4S:

In certain situations, iPhone 4S may have difficulty recognizing a micro-SIM card, resulting in the following behaviors:

– “Invalid SIM” or “No SIM Card installed” alert appears intermittently.
– Status bar displays “No Service” or “Searching” in a location with good network coverage.

If you have updated iOS 5.0.1 already, there’s a way to update to this fix on your device. Read the next post to get your iPhone 4S updated to iOS 5.0.1 Build 9A406. Many users have reported that the fix works for them. But as usual, many other users are reporting that the issue still persists on their devices.
