Forrester Research says that Windows 8 tablets are already losing interest among users and are too late to the market to put in a competition.
Microsoft unveiled Windows 8 at their BUILD 2011 conference in a not-so-impressive way and now a recent research by Forrester says that the Windows 8 tablets are too late to the market. If this market research is true, Windows 8 and Microsoft are in trouble!
Forrester recently published this research which says that the Microsoft’s Windows 8 tablets are too late for the market. The reason being that the iPad launched 18 months before and Microsoft is juts another mover into the tablet market in the fifth place. And also, the market has already been seeing some other tablet OS such as the Blackberry, WebOS, Android and others.
However, the Windows 8 tablets are appealing to hardware manufacturers like Dell, Sony, Toshiba, HP and Others. But I think Microsoft will cope up and as Steve has always wished, it has a very high possibility of throwing away the crappy and fragmented Android market off the scene. And also, when Windows 8 tablet surfaces, Microsoft would be pulling a majority of the customers into their ecosystem, and users would be happy to have the same interface on their tablet and on their desktops.
Windows 8 is definitely powerful when compared to other versions of Windows. But the adoption rate is to be worried about right now, since only 25% of the users who were surveyed were opting for Windows tablets. But still, the tablet market, other than the iPad’s have got a plenty of room to be filled, and Kindle Fire is a best example.
If iPads are for the personal use, then Windows tablets are going to be for the professionals and the businesses. Also, Windows 8 promises to bring the desktop like UX to the tablets, which is a major win for the Windows users.
The official date of release is yet to be confirmed by the software maker for the launch of Windows 8.
