Project Black Mirror lets you talk to Siri with just your mind. [Innovation]

A group of engineers have tasted success in controlling iPhone 4S’ Siri with just brain waves using a ECG, which translates the waves into synthesized speech to instruct Siri.

iPhone 4S’ Siri is a flawless hit among the users. And talking to Siri has been real fun. But what if you want to just think something and Siri helps you with that? This has been made possible with a new project called “Project Black Mirror“, a project by a group of engineers, which would let you instruct Siri with your brain waves.

Whenever you think of something, you produce a very small amount of brain waves that are really hard to sense with a sensor. But there are some devices that can detect even those patterns, and one such device is the ECG pads. The ECG pads detects the brain waves from your brain and synthesize it and convert it into synthesized speech. The synthesized speech is then passed onto Siri with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and what else? Siri hears you and responds to your commands.

You still need to press the home button to enable Siri on your iPhone 4S. The Project Black Mirror detects and links 25 patterns of your brain wave and send it to Siri commands. The project is in the initial stage and requires a large board that’s connected to the Macbook Pro to do all the synthesizing stuff. The engineers are planning to take the project to the next level and also for a commercial release soon.

The video demos of the project are here. Just have a look and the future is definitely bright:

And just after the project got some attention among the bloggers, they have got very excited and are planning to go big! Way to go engineers! Go, change everything once again!
