Microsoft Surface is now available for Pre-Order in 23 countries at $8, 400!

The Microsoft Surface computer is now available for pre-order from Samsung Retailers. The Surface table is expected to cost around $8,400. The computer runs Windows 7 and Surface 2.0 software.

Microsoft demoed the Surface table at the CES about a year before and has been working on it to bring it to the customers. The Surface computer has been in testing at some of the large hotels and corporate houses for about a year now, and looks like the device is now ready for the customers. The device has been named Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface, and is now available for pre-order at the Samsung stores.

The device is table-sized and is also wall mountable. The software that powers this device is Windows 7, along with a special Surface 2.0 software, that is capable of performing a lot of functions when compared to the other touch screen software. The screen size is 40″ (diagonally) and comes with a native resolution of 1, 920 x 1, 080 with 2, 000:1 aspect ratio.

The hardware that powers Microsoft Surface is very powerful. The device comes with a 2.9GHz Athlon X2 dual-core processor, a 320GB HDD, a 4GB memory module and also with other standard features like the HDMI port, USB 2.0 slots and Ethernet connectors.

What’s more special about Surface is that, it is capable of over 50 simultaneous touch points and uses PixelSense, a special technology developed to detect and process multi-touch actions on a device. The device can recognize hands, fingers and other objects like your mobile phone, camera and much more and you can sync your mobile phone with the device by just placing it on top of the Surface.

Microsoft Surface originally came back from 2008, where the company announced that they are working on this revolutionary product and there’s been a lot of buzz about this device ever since. Not to stop with this, but the company has provided the Surface 2.0 SDK to the developers and the developers are free to develop brilliant apps for the device.

Where the Surface computers can be used? Well, it is definitely not limited. The device is very powerful and can be deployed at Hospitals, auto motives, and other industries. But the fact that they price point is too high will let the individual customers at the gate. Microsoft is now concentrating on the business customers who are in need of such a device for their company, and for this functionality, there would be many companies who would buy this product.

An example of Microsoft Surface being used at Hospitals

If you are not aware, the Surface computers are already being used at a lot of places. Right from pubs to hotels to business places. They have been under testing and have been deployed back in the year 2009. We must admit, if iPad is for Apple, Surface would be for Microsoft!
